Craziness & Fun

Part of the craziness and fun at our house is the summer weather we are having in February. We set a family record today. With the temperature resting on 93, we took the plunge. Literally we took the plunge in the pool; making February our earliest swim ever. It was great!!!

All you green thumbs out there would enjoy being here and already working on your spring selection. We recently made the rounds in a search for plants and flowers and found a large selection near the waterfall. You would also love the variety AND the prices. One of Diana’s selections was a large fuchsia plant which she purchased for $3 which now graces our balcony along with other flowers and plants.

We have fresh fruit in abundance and mangos are just coming into season. They are delicious! The other evening we were all enjoying a fresh mango, all that is except Maria. When I asked her how she liked it she replied, “Well, let’s put it this way, if I was stranded on a deserted island and I had to pick between pork skins and mango, I would take the mango.” To which her pork skin loving brother then replied, “Wow, you must really love mango.”

Our children are teaching Chelsea to howl. Hurray!!! Of course the best way to teach her to howl is to teach by example. It’s working, but you’ve got to wonder what our neighbors are thinking with so much howling going on – “Oh, it's just the missionaries!” Speaking of Chelsea, you will be interested to know that we have discovered that she is a bear dog. Hard to believe isn’t it? But it’s true we haven’t seen one bear around here since we brought her home.

We had great fun this week when our Spanish tutor Marú spent the afternoon teaching us how to make a Mexican meal. It was more than a meal it was event considering that it took over three hours to prepare, an hour to eat, and another hour to clean up. But how good it was, as we savored chicken tacos, enchiladas, homemade sauces, guacamole, and a Jamaica drink topped off with flan for dessert.

What are we expecting in the future, just more of the same? Why not throw caution to the wind, take a risk and come join us for the next round of craziness and fun?

Yum! Looks like you guys are having fun! Btw, "jamaica" is hybiscus flower in English, and sometimes during the summer they even have it at Starbucks, minus all the sugar, as hybiscus flower tea. :) It's fun to learn to cook new things, eh? I can't wait to learn to cook Senegalese food. :)

Even with all that new food, I still bet that you don't have Turkey Hill. In a couple of weeks Tiff and I will be flying over you all on our way to visit with her family.
Still missing you and praying for you!
